東京拠点の4人組。当初はレゲエ/ダブバンドとして始動し、次第にジャズ、ソウル、サイケ・ポップ、ニューエイジやエキゾチカなど多様なジャンルの影響をブレンドした音楽性へ発展。グルーヴと陶酔感をベースとしつつカラフルなサウンドとメロディが特徴。2024年、新作EP『Ramble In The Rainbow』を米ワシントンD.C.のレーベルPeoples Potential Unlimitedより初の海外リリース。
発売翌日Gilles PetersonによるBBC Radio6トラックリストへの選曲を皮切りに、翌週はBandcamp Weeklyの表紙に抜擢、のちに2024年ベスト盤として特集される。国内ではRolling Stone誌"Future Of Music 2024"に選出されるなど、各地で反響を呼ぶ。活動は都内ライブハウスを中心にフジロック等の国内音楽フェスへ多数出演するほか、近年はカナダ・韓国・オーストラリアといった海外へも活動の場を広げている。

TAMTAM is an experimental pop band based in Tokyo. Starting with reggae and dub roots, TAMTAM has gradually evolved into an innovative fusion of diverse musical genres, combining jazz, soul, new-age music, and exotica for its signature sound. They were discovered by Washington D.C. label Peoples Potential Unlimited and led to their latest EP “Ramble In The Rainbow (2024)” becoming their first international release. The work shows their musical maturity, drawing inspiration from Sun Ra, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and Yasuaki Shimizu.
Gilles Peterson selected the title track for his BBC Radio 6 playlist, and Bandcamp Weekly featured TAMTAM on its cover, naming their EP one of the Best of Bandcamp 2024. Also being selected to represent Japan in the "Future of music 2024" nominated by Rolling Stone magazine, the band is positioned for global recognition. Recent performances in Canada, South Korea and Australia are just the beginning of their journey.
